How film-forming and penetrating sealers work, when to apply them and how to clean and care for patios.
Sealers protect surfaces from stains, water and wear. Penetrating sealers soak in and leave a natural look. Film-forming sealers sit on top and can add sheen and color depth. Sealers for pavers may also lock in joint sand. The right choice depends on the surface, sun and the look you want.
Sealing works best on a clean, dry surface in mild weather. Over time, sealers wear and need renewing. Between sealings, sweeping, rinsing and occasional cleaning keep a patio looking good. Algae in shade, leaf stains and rust marks have specific treatments. We test a small area first and share a simple care plan.
