Regrading, swales, dry creek beds and drains that move water around patios and away from the home.
The shape of the ground decides where water goes. If your yard slopes toward the house, puddles near a patio or erodes beds, grading and drainage fix the cause. Swales, dry creek beds, berms and drains guide water to a safe outlet and look good doing it. Nashville clay soil drains slowly, so the surface shape does a lot of the work.
Your designer studies how water moves across the yard during rain and plans a combination of grading, swales and drains that carries water around and away from structures. The crew rough grades with equipment, shapes swales and berms, installs pipes or dry creek stone where needed and finishes with soil, sod or plantings. The scope lists the elevations and outlets. Before work begins, we mark utilities and check where water leaves the site. Good drainage should never send water to a neighbor, so we plan outlets that stay on your property or reach a proper discharge point. Rain is the best test, so we like to visit after a storm and see the results. We keep a record of the final grades and drainage layout, which helps with future projects and with understanding how your property handles water.
Ground should fall away from the house and patios, and we regrade when it does not.
Gentle channels and mounds guide water without looking like ditches.
Stone-lined channels carry heavy flow, look natural and can be planted along the edges.
Seed, sod and plantings hold soil in place so the new grade stays put.
